So I'm sure everyone here saw this post on the right hand side of their computer monitor and was wondering what the hell this could be about. What could possibly Bruce Smith and Mike Caussin have in common right?
Well it all started during my annual trip that my fiance and I take every Martin Luther King weekend vacation. Since i live in Southern Cali we like to go somewhere cold and that preferably has some snow. Leaving John Wayne Airport on the red eye flight to Boston we decided to get a glass of wine and a beer for me at the new bar adjacent to our gate. I ordered a drink for both of us and waited until our flight boarded. A rather large African American gentleman sits down next to us and orders some wine. He takes a call and we continue just chatting it up. My fiance tells me that she thinks that guy is a baller cause he wearing true religion jeans, has a Louis Vuitton man purse, is wearing a blinged out watch, and is drinking a pretty nice vintage of wine. Since i work as an engineer on container ships and travel to China quite frequently i said, " No way, you can buy that watch for 20 bucks in Shanghai" and pretty much everything else he was wearing. So she said again, " No, he's definitely a baller." Anyways, our gate gets called and we race as fast as we can so i can get my nice aisle seat before they all get taken. Three or Four hours later we ended up in Chicago. We exited the plane and stood outside the gate so i could grab my phone from my backpack. I look up and I get a better view of this behemoth of a man walking off the plane into the terminal. Mind you its 0400 in the morning. I look to my fiance barely awake and say " I think thats Bruce Smith!" I quickly try and turn my phone on to get a recent picture of him since the only image in my head of him is in a Bills jersey with shoulder pads on, a mustache, and a mini high and tight. Of course i am not fast enough getting my phone out so my fiance just straight up asks him in her cute little high pitched voice. " Are you Bruce Smith?" He responds yes and she tells him that I am a huge Bills fan. He gave some sort of "Right On" hand movement and walks off. Of course me being a huge bills fan I wanted a picture or autograph really bad, however it was just too early in the morning to bug anyone like that. We continued to our next flight to Boston and had a horrible time. No snow, food sucked, and the Patriots won their playoff game. Sigh.
This past week my family finally got together for my grandmothers 80th birthday. We are all spread out across the States so it also served as a much needed family reunion type ordeal. My Nana lives in Lockport and boy was it hot there this past weekend. My fiance and I decided to fly in on fourth of july because my Uncle told me that if i got there by thursday morning he would take me to the Bills stadium store and I could replace that old Trent Edwards jersey that I have. Anyways, when we got there my little cousin from Atlanta was instantly drawn to this foam bills head hat. His dad said that he couldn't get it, but I had to get it for him. After all, my uncle spoiled me with Bills gear back in the day when i was his age. Autographs, rookie cards, hats, etc. So as we were paying for everything this rather large individual walked in. He looked as if he just finished playing some golf or something. My fiance says, " He's gotta be a Bill." I guess i shouldn't doubt her when it comes to picking out pro athletes so i ask the guy what position he plays. I can't really tell who it is and just figure its a guy from the practice squad or something. He says his name is Mike Caussin and plays tight end. I knew the name and that he played tight end, however i just have never seen him without his helmet on. I ask him to sign my cousins foam Bill hat he he was really cool and did it. He even chatted it up with my cousin a little and asked him if he plays pop warner football like the jersey he was wearing. Little james was wearing a Marcel Dareus jersey and he replied yes. The kid could hardly speak though. It was funny. Mike told him that thats a good person to play defense like. We all laughed.
Anyways, thought i would share my little stories with you guys. I think i gained 10 pounds with all the food i ate there. Ted's, Reid's, Duffs (best wings i have ever had!), DiFlippos, and all the household BBQ that we were doing. I loved it there. Well, i am looking forward to seeing the Bills play in San Fran this year. They are going to get whipped!
