I wasn't born in WNY; we moved there from the Detroit 'burbs when I was 13 and I left permanently 30 years ago, when I was 20 and enlisted in the USAF. For these last 30 years I have maintained my fanhood in the Buffalo Bills largely as my way of maintaining some kind of connection to WNY (I have no family there, either). On one hand, I don't have to explain how frustrating it can be to be a Bills fan. But on the other hand, I do have to say that it would be one thing to maintain my fanhood if I lived in WNY and was surrounded by fellow Bills fans, local media, etc. It's quite another living 2,000 miles away and maintaining my fanhood through all these decades of misery.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I realize we've only seen one pre-season game in 2012 but I have to say my patience waiting for the Buffalo Bills to demonstrate competence on the football field is really wearing thin. I'm tired of rooting for a team that not only constantly loses, but often doesn't even look like they're trying or that there is any competence anywhere in the organization. I'm still going to try to hang on and I'm very enthusiastic about what the FO did in signing Mario, Anderson, and generally rebuilding the pathetic defense. But I would REALLY like to see some evidence of improvement and some competence on the field. That would really make a huge difference for me as a fan.
