The Buffalo Bills continue to trim the fat from their training camp roster with the NFL's first cut-down day looming next Monday. The team on Wednesday announced that cornerback Cris Hill and free safety Josh Nesbitt have been waived/injured, reducing Buffalo's roster to 86 players.
Nesbitt spent the 2011 season largely on the team's practice squad; the former Georgia Tech quarterback was moved to safety, but couldn't stay healthy enough to compete for a roster spot this summer. Similarly, Hill has been banged up this summer, and was quickly surpassed by other young cornerbacks.
By releasing the players in this manner, Hill and Nesbitt could wind up on the team's IR list if both clear waivers. Buffalo would then be on the hook for their salary until the players were healthy - or until the two sides reached an injury settlement.
Buffalo must reduce its roster to 75 players by 4PM next Monday. You can take a look at an updated (and unofficial) depth chart right here.
