Is McKelvin Really Improving?

I was over on buffalobills.com and noticed a blog post by Chris Brown. (Brown, by the way, has answered every e-mail I've ever sent him and don't assume I'm special in that regard. If you think of a question while reading an article of his by all means shoot him an e-mail and expect a reply within a week or so.)

McKelvin has been lined up mainly in the slot this summer and by all accounts has performed very, very well inside in Buffalo’s secondary.

“Leodis has played really, really well at nickel,” said head coach Chan Gailey. “It would be hard to move him out of there.”

Gailey isn't known for praising guys just to do it; he actually seems more likely to mix praise and criticism in order to keep a guy from becoming complacent. When I heard the Gailey quote (on one of the interview videos on the site if I recall) I kind of filed it away and waited for someone else to come to the same conclusion. Granted, Chris Brown works for the Bills but he tends to take an "I'm not sure" tone when he disagrees with the official party line. I take it from his blog post that Brown agrees with Gailey and the multiple other sources ("by all accounts") he cites.

I've only seen bits and pieces of McKelvin in the preseason games so far and he didn't stand out as being radically improved. Perhaps I just wasn't paying close enough attention. Some of the folks on this site have attended the training camp sessions and others may have paid special attention to McKelvin. My question to you is whether you agree with the assessment that McKelvin has performed "very, very well" in the slot this summer and, if so, does he merit consideration for a contract extension?

On another note, anyone know what happened to the 'attach poll' button?

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.
