Currently, with most of week 2 finished, Ryan Fitzpatrick sits at number 19 for QB passer rating at 86.5. Sounds pretty reasonable so far, right? Well here's where it starts to get weird.
Fitzpatrick sits right behind Aaron Rodgers and Eli Manning who have an 89.9 and 91.1 respectively. Of course not all QBs who are considered at least a tier or two above Fitzpatrick are so close to him in the rankings. Matthew Stafford, Drew Brees, and Michael Vick are all ranked consecutively ... at 27, 28, and 29 with Stafford leading the way with a 73.2 rating and Vick pulling up the rear at 66.9.
Still, some of the elite QBs predictably are well above Fitz. Tom Brady sits comfortably at 13 right behind Mark Sanchez. And there are some QBs still blowing away Fitz, such as Christian Ponder at #7 with a 110.6 rating or the ever imposing Alex Smith in third at 115.9.
It's too early to read much into the rankings, but here's to hoping they remain this crazy for at least a few more weeks. Should make for the interesting discussion.
