The Buffalo Bills likely won't have C.J. Spiller for Week 4 against New England, but there are optimistic signs that Fred Jackson may be ready to return.

The Buffalo Bills almost certainly won't have C.J. Spiller when they take on the New England Patriots in Week 4, but Tashard Choice may not have to carry the full rushing load, anyway. Chan Gailey told WGR 550 this morning that Fred Jackson is expected to practice this week.

"I think Fred will practice at some point this week," Gailey said on The Howard Simon Show. "Whether it's Wednesday, I don't know; it might be Thursday. But I'm telling you, it's amazing, the progress he's made. I have to give a lot of credit to the way he's worked to get back."

Gailey also re-affirmed what he said about Spiller's injury after yesterday's 24-14 win over the Cleveland Browns: that it's not long-term, but should cost him at least one game. While acknowledging that signs of Jackson's potential return remain positive, Gailey also was quick to praise Choice, who had 99 yards from scrimmage on 22 touches in yesterday's win.

"I'm telling you now, Choice ran pretty good yesterday, and he's a good running back," Gailey said. "I don't have any qualms with him whatsoever."
