Just was reading over some of the predictions for this Pats game coming up this Sunday. A lot of worry is going into containing Welker. I for one don't think it is a big deal if he has a big game in receptions and yards. Obviously that can be said for any player however Gronk is more of Red-zone threat then being a deep threat. Lloyd he can get the deep ball. Stevan Ridley seems more like a grinder than a true home run threat, as far as I know.
My main concern is us shutting down Steven Ridley and Gronk as best we can. Lloyd is then a secondary concern to contain the big yards.
I view Welker's role mainly in the Pats offense as a 1st down machine. With Eldman out I don't think Welker has the speed element in his game to kill us. However, if Ridley is able to establish himself that will allow Gronk to take chances in the receiving game.
We are going to have to pick our poison because it will be tough to shut down the Pats completely given their performance the last 2 weeks and it being a division game. I don't expect Brady to throw 4 Int's like last year at home.
what do you guys think? Between Brandon Lloyd, Wes Welker, Stevan Ridley, Danny Woodhead and Gronk who can have a big game stats wise or as some might have Fantasy Football wise and have us still winning/controlling the game?
