Watching the Senior Bowl gave me some questions about what our draft strategy should be this year. There should be a lot of options at the #8 pick. It will be interesting to see who's stock rises and falls, but as I see it, here are a few of our options.
1.
Rd 1: Stay at #8, take the QB MARRIX (doesn't flow as nicely as CHIX) sees as the best choice.
Rd 2/3: Take the best LB/WR available in 2 and 3.
2.
Rd 1a: Take the BQBA at 8.
Rd 1b: Trade back into the first round (If this is an option. Tried to figure out values based on that chart chart, not sure where we'd be able to end up) If we can get back into the 1st round (~16) by trading next years 1st? then I would love to see Alec Ogletree there. Hes got good size, put up a very good season, and we know Nix likes the SEC.
3. This scenario MARRIX decides that they can afford to wait until round 2/3 to take a QB.
Rd 1: Trade down to ~16, take Ogletree
Rd 2a: With 41st pick, grab a QB.
Rd. 2b: With 46th, best LB/WR available.
Also: Ziggy Ansah looked like a man among boys out there today. If hes there at either 8 (or after a trade down) can we pass him up? Are there any other players that we just couldn't pass on if they fell to us?
IMO, none of the QBs had a day good enough to move their stock up too much. With the number of teams that need QBs, it almost does look like we could wait until 2nd round.
Thoughts?
