In reading on the background on Lovie Smith I have found some interesting info.
-He is from Marty Schottenheimer coaching tree. The same tree that has Ken Wisenhunt, Tony Dungy, and Bill Cowher.
-He also has been on the same coaching staff as Jim Caldwell, Cam Cameron, and Mike Shula (OC idea).
-He knows defense. The Tampa-2 that has been run in Chicago is a standard for solid defense.
-He defense has been anchored by a stud middle linebacker and the 2013 draft has a solid stud middle linebacker available - Monte Teo.
-If Ken Whisenhunt does not get a HC job he would be a solid OC for us. Norv Turner could also be a solid OC option.
-Lovie could probably retain his Special Teams coach which has made the ST the best in the NFL.
We could also get Devon Hester to follow Lovie. A great kick returner and good receiver. (Steve Tasker with more speed).
These are just a couple simple facts I have pulled up on Him. I also realize that he has not ever gotten a solid OC in his whole tenure. That could be a problem if he does not get one here. He also has only been to the playoffs once in the last six seasons but least he has been there. The last set of coaches have been to the playoffs as a coordinator or by just luck (Gailey with the Cowboys).
Do I want Lovie as the next Bills coach? I really do not know. He seems like the most safe.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.
