We are all waiting to see who the next coach of our beloved team will be. There are many choices, but, in my opinion, one stands out far more then the others. And I will explain why.
OUR NEXT COACH MUST BE LOVIE SMITH.
Why is this a must be? Well simple really. And I will explain it.
It can't be Chip Kelly b/c we don't have the team for him to run his up-temp offense. In order to do that, you need either a very good (or better) Offense or defense. We have neither. If the QB, whomever that is, isn't up to the task, the D will be on the field far too long. Our D is our weak spot. So, I don't want a coach who won't use the team the way it should.
When looking at the coaches and the coordinators, they all have something in common, but, one, Lovie Smith. They all were limited by the QB they had. It is easy to coach well when Warner, Manning, or other top star QBs lead your team. But, when you don't have that luxury, how do they do? Most of them have not done well. At all. So, as they enter a team in Buffalo with Fitz as your QB and a kid coming into the fold, you don't want to do too much to confuse the new kid. If you look at the history of successful teams, they don't rush kid QBs and ask them to do too much. Would Brady have been able to run the O he runs now? I doubt it. Heck, even Russell Wilson isn't the same QB he was when he started out.
Lovie Smith has proved over and over that he can survive with average or worse at QB. So, if the new kid can be brought along slowly, and blossom into a top tier QB, then he could be a super bowl winner. Smith is the only coach who has done more with less. We need a coach like that.
