The GIF Oracle

Complaints are starting to roll in about The GIF Oracle, SB Nation's new feature that allows blog commenters to ask the Oracle for a sports GIF on a whim.

I promise you, friends, that I'm not surprised that complaints are starting to roll in.

Here's the situation: the Oracle is a blog setting that I can toggle on or off. It's off by default; I turned it on. I can turn it back off again any time I see fit. I am monitoring its use (or misuse) by the community closely to see if it's something that we can handle moving forward. I sincerely hope that we can, because I think it's a heck of a lot of fun if used with restraint. Right now, I believe that its overuse is simply because it's in a new and experimental phase.

Please don't feel compelled to flag each Oracle GIF that shows up, or to yell at people who use it. Again: I've got the situation covered. Give it a week, and if the feature is still on and pissing you off, shoot me an email and we'll discuss it. In the meantime, you can still hide each GIF by clicking the "hide image" button when you hover over the image. Simple and easy.

Thanks, dear readers.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.
