Gilmore, who missed the Bills' first five games of the season with the broken wrist, returned to action last week against Cincinnati with a wrap that covered the entirety of his left hand, leaving no fingers exposed to grip with. He played as the third cornerback, logging only 26 snaps (as compared to the 70 of Aaron Williams and the 68 of Leodis McKelvin), and struggled to press receivers at the line of scrimmage and tackle in the open field.
Heading into today's game against the Miami Dolphins, Williams has continued to play at cornerback. Given the fact that Gilmore still can't play with two hands, we should expect a similar snap breakdown as we saw a week ago, with Williams and McKelvin handling most of the corner reps, with Gilmore and Nickell Robey working in as sub-package guys. Ron Brooks is back in the lineup this week coming off a broken foot, and could be a factor, as well.
