Thad Lewis injury: Bills QB doubtful for Chiefs game

Chris Graythen

It's Friday afternoon, and the Buffalo Bills still don't know who will be starting at quarterback when they take on the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Thad Lewis has officially been listed as doubtful for Sunday's matchup against the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs, meaning that the Bills will likely be using their third starting quarterback of the season against one of the league's best defenses.

Bills head coach Doug Marrone made the announcement following practice on Friday. Lewis has not been ruled out for the contest, and the team may put him through some workouts this weekend to gauge his readiness to play on Sunday. Marrone also announced that if Lewis can't go, the team has not yet made a decision on whether Jeff Tuel or Matt Flynn will take his place in the lineup (though he did note that Tuel took more reps than Flynn this week). Marrone and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett will huddle up to make that decision, with Lewis' readiness factoring into the equation.

The odds still favor Tuel getting the nod if Lewis can't play, but it could not be any clearer at this point that the team is still, even after three straight days of Lewis not practicing in full, hoping that the former practice squad signal caller will be able to play on Sunday.
