Stevie Johnson injury: groin may sideline Johnson for Bills vs. Jets

Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

From the sounds of it, the Buffalo Bills will be without their top two receiving targets when they take on the New York Jets this weekend.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson missed a second straight day of practice on Wednesday, casting further doubt on his availability for the Bills' home date with the New York Jets this Sunday.

Johnson, who injured his groin midway through the fourth quarter in last weekend's loss to Pittsburgh, has been battling injuries throughout most of this season, as is the norm for him. He saw a lengthy consecutive games started streak end earlier this season when a back injury and a death in the family caused him to miss a Week 6 contest, and now he's in danger of missing a second game this season.

If Johnson can't play this weekend - and it's not sounding much like the team expects him to - they'll be without their top two receiving targets, as rookie Robert Woods has already been ruled out for this game with an ankle injury. A week after struggling mightily in his return to the starting lineup, things won't get easier for E.J. Manuel as he tries to solve the Rex Ryan defense throwing to the likes of T.J. Graham, Marquise Goodwin, Chris Hogan, Marcus Easley and Scott Chandler.
