After another heartbreaking loss, our dismal playoff hopes are officially over, well that's besides the point. The 2014 NFL Draft is full of talent, another home run hit by the front office would make us a contender in the AFC. After yesterday's loss we have several looming holes.
- Wide receiver, a position we all thought was set after drafting Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin. Well we were all wrong. Graham appears to be a bust, although he does come up with some big plays when Johnson's been out. Goodwin when given touches is dynamite even though he doesn't get them very often. Johnson has problems in the clutch and is injury prone. The best receiver on our roster is probably Robert Woods. Adding a player like Sammy Watkins who has great physical tools and be a home run hitter or Mike Adams who can win match ups with corner backs would finally complete one of our glaring needs.
- Tight end this one is the obvious one. All along we all knew that Scott Chandler was slow, had poor ball security, average hands, and was horrible at blocking. Adding a play making tight end such as Eric Ebron could replace and obviously upgrade Chandler who will probably hit the open market. We could use him in two tight end sets with Smith or Gragg such as New England has done in the past.
- Outside linebacker/ Defensive end, one of the only holes on defense, over the past years we've built up a good core of defensive players with Marcell Dareus, Mario Williams, Jairus Byrd, and Stephon Gilmore. Adding a three down linebacker or another defensive end that could also bring pressure and collapse offensive lines. How could teams block Mario, Dareus, Kyle, and Mack or Clowney? They just couldn't adding another pass rusher would also bring attention from Mario Williams who is constantly being double-teamed.
