Bills vs. Dolphins, NFL Week 16: first half open thread

Robert Mayer-USA TODAY Sports

The Bills are 3-3 at home this season, and just two of the six contests have been decided by multiple scores. Today, they'll host the 8-6 Dolphins, who have a legitimate shot at the playoffs. Let's play spoiler, Buffalo!

The Buffalo Bills have played six games at Ralph Wilson Stadium this season. In Week 2, they recorded a come-from-behind victory over the currently 10-4 Carolina Panthers. In Week 4, they beat the defending champion Baltimore Ravens, who are now 8-6 and in position for yet another playoff berth. Then, in mid-November, they blew out the New York Jets, 38-14.

Their three losses have all been competitive affairs, as well. On opening day, the New England Patriots (10-4) needed a last-second field goal to knock the Bills off. The Cincinnati Bengals, now 9-5, came into town in Week 6 and required overtime to beat a Bills team quarterbacked by Thad Lewis for the first time. Three weeks later, it was Jeff Tuel under center, helping the Bills take an undefeated (and now 11-3) Kansas City Chiefs team down to the wire, ultimately losing 23-13.

Today, the Bills play their seventh and final game at the Ralph against the Miami Dolphins. They're 8-6 and nursing legitimate playoff hopes. Lewis will be under center for the Bills, just as he was when Buffalo beat the Dolphins in Miami earlier this season. If the previous six home games are any indication, we can expect a competitive game today - but a win against an arch-rival from yesteryear to spoil their playoff chances would be a lovely early Christmas gift for Bills fans.

This is your open thread for the first half of today's game. Go Bills!
