DraftCountdown.com has an interesting Buffalo Bills pick in their latest mock draft: Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson. Thoughts?
One of my go-to NFL Draft sites over the past several years is run by Scott Wright at DraftCountdown.com. Wright put out his most recent 2013 NFL Mock Draft on Valentine's Day, projecting Tennessee junior wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson to the Buffalo Bills with the No. 8 overall pick.
The 6'3", 205-pound Patterson spent only one season with the Volunteers after two years at the JUCO level. He immediately became one of Tennessee's most explosive playmakers, recording touchdowns not just as a receiver, but on the ground and in the return game, as well. With inconsistent play at quarterback and another highly-regarded draft prospect (Justin Hunter) on the roster, Patterson caught 46 passes for 778 yards with five scores in 2012. Runs and returns doubled his touchdown total to 10.
Patterson is, however, viewed as a raw prospect, and Wright writes in his mock that taking him at No. 8 would "undoubtedly be a reach." Still, it's hard to imagine that the Bills won't have Patterson graded highly; he's the type of big, athletic wide receiver that profiles as a No. 1 target that GM Buddy Nix has been looking for essentially since he got here.
What would you think of the idea of taking Patterson at No. 8, Bills fans?
