First fanpost here at Buffrumblings and I present to you a qualm I have been thinking about over the past week. Here it is:
Andy Levitre is a solid starter for the buffalo bills o-line. He doesn't have the size that Nix looks for but his athleticism is undeniable especially in pulls and screens which I expect the bills to use extensively with CJ Spiller. His pass blocking skills are even better than his run blocking ability. Now most of us know that he is not a bruiser or a primary power player. So this raises the question does he fit into the Nix idealology of lineman or is he special enough to super seed these notions? Does his long term payday hurt the team significantly when we could be looking to sign and start Rinehart as well as another free agent? Does Levitre fit into Doug Marrone's system? Is there a better answer in the draft that we haven't considered? Does Levitre want to be here and does he want to continue with the new regime? I can see him wanting to stay with this o-line group as they have been good but is the team going to be good enough in his eyes in the next 2-3 years?
At this point I am in a rut. I can see his signing being a positive. We get a solid dependable player who excels in his field. He is the top commodity at OG in this years free agency period. But the contract could limit the potential we are able to acquire to make the team better. Rinehart is a drop off but not much and could allow for much more cap room. If we lost both, I could see us making a run for Larry Warford in the second and I think it would upgrade the line instead of just plug a hole. Only problem right now we have 1 second rd pick and could use 2-3 draftee's from that round (like most year's).
I am not saying we are taking anyone or that I feel we need to take someone specifically but what I want to know from our blogger's here is how do these questions and decisions affect the team?
