So the point was made by James Walker that Tom Brady's recent contract extension all but makes Ryan Mallett's chances of starting in the NFL for the next 2 years about zero percent. The Patriots would be wise to listen to trade offers for him considering they'll get nothing for him if he walks. Mallett is an elite arm talent and has stayed off the radar during his NFL career. His draft stock fell enough to land him in the 3rd round because of character issues: he admitted to drug use and being a party guy during college at the combine. He also has some pretty dumb tattoos. I'm not sure how much I care about his party habits or the tattoos, and he has never tested positive for drugs at Arkansas or in the NFL. I mean, a college kid that partied and tried drugs? Weird. It's fair to say that a 2nd rounder should do the trick and Mallett is certainly on par (probably well above after 2 years of NFL experience) with the talent at QB in this draft class. So what do you guys think, is there any way in hell Buddy Nix would take a chance on a guy like Mallett?
