Chiefs, Luke Joeckel, OT, that trade for Alex Smith will be utterly pointless if the chiefs have nobody to protect him, this pick also gives them the ability to move brandon albert around the line most probably to right tackle after Eric Winston's release.
Jaguars, Sharrif Floyd, DT, the jaguars had little success rushing the passer last season but they were also pretty abysmal defending the run, they could take a giant leap towards solving both those problems with this pick floyd is a huge explosive defensive tackle with the strength and build to defend the run and the quickness to get to QBs and he didn't hurt his standing at the combine either, guys like Corey Lemonier or Datone Jones could be there in the second round who could help the jags address their outside rush.
Raiders, Bjoern Werner, DE, the raiders need pretty much everything, their need for cornerback has been especially underrated in my opinion but a defensive end who can effectively rush the pass and defend the run is something they are sorely in need of, Werner seemed to slide down mock drafts a little after putting up so so numbers at the combine but not in my book, he's still a top prospect who should go high, this pick also allows Oakland to slide Lamarr Houston inside to tackle where he may be more effective.
Eagles, Star Lotulelei, DT, The eagles purged their defensive line recently and unless they address it in free agency this would be a good pick, a cornerback or a tackle could go here but i think they take the big dominant d-lineman if he's there. i'm not sure of the severity of that heart condition, in all honesty i think any heart condition is probably severe so i could change my mind about this pick depending on what the official diagnosis ends up being. Star's job in philly will be to dominate the line of scrimmage either as a 3-4 defensive end or a nose tackle. If he puts up good numbers at his pro day don't be surprised to see draftniks immediately throwing him back into their top 10's.
Lions, Demarcus Milliner, CB, the lions already need a defensive end, if they fail to resign Cliff Avril which looks likely or they don't address the position in free agency then their need would become dire, the problem is i just can't see an NFL team buying into either Dion Jordan, Barkevious Mingo or Ezekiel Ansah as top 5 defensve ends, Ansah may be the most suited of them to play in a 4-3 defense but he is very raw and unproven, people can harp about how he came on strong at the senior bowl and combine numbers but seriously, does an impressive senior bowl really warrant such a high pick? here i'm addressing one of detroits other needs and going with the gritty athletic corner with a knack for defending passes.
Browns, Jarvis Jones, again i'm taking a chance on a guy with a medical condition but then i feel its a chance an NFL team will be willing to take as well even in the top 10 because of Jones tremendous talent and proven record of production in college, also the recent reports on his neck have been far more more optimistic. this is a good value/need combination here for Cleveland as Jones would be well suited to playing outside linebacker in their defense. I nearly went QB here and i still think it's possible but i think in the end the browns will try to make something out of Brandon Weeden.
Cardinals, Eric Fischer, OT, as badly as the cards need a QB if they take one before properly addressing their o-line well then the guy might as well change his name to David Carr part deux because he is going to take one hell of a beating, here they can pick up a blue chip tackle prospect to anchor their line then use their second rounder on a QB and their 3rd 4th 5th 6th and 7th rounders on more o-linemen.
Bills, Geno Smith, QB, he may not be considered anywhere near as good a prospect as Griffin or Luck but then he doesnt really need to look like a future hall of famer, he just needs to be a good QB because that's something the Bills haven't had in long time, the Bills address their most glaring need here, but they better get this guy some help later in the draft or his career is going to get off to a rough start, a big pass catching tight end would be a wise investment at some point if the bills don't address the position in free agency.
Jets, Ezekiel Ansah, OLB/DE, the jets would love it if a more polished prospect like Jarvis Jones were to drop to them but i don't see that happening, i think this pick is a toss up between the trio of Mingo, Jordan and Ansah, the three guys are similar in that they are all technically raw with a ton of athleticism and upside but in the end it's Ansah i’m picking, his build may be more suited for a 4-3 defense but i think Rex Ryan will find a way to fit him in his defense and tap Ansah’s immense potential.
Titans, Chance Warmack, G, the Titan’s need to keep Chris Johnson rolling and they need to make life easier for jake locker as well, Warmack could help them do both of these things. They say guards don’t go in the top 10 but teams really shouldn’t be turning their noses up at elite prospects just because of what others say, the Rams pick a mere six spots later and they aren’t going to pass up a chance to draft Warmack if he's there and neither should the titans.
