Buffalo Bills Lose Chad Rinehart To San Diego Chargers

Rick Stewart

A day after losing Andy Levitre to the Tennessee Titans, the Buffalo Bills' backup left guard, Chad Rinehart, has signed a one-year deal with the San Diego Chargers.

For a second straight day, the Buffalo Bills have lost an offensive guard to free agency. Andy Levitre signed a mega-deal with the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday, and today Chad Rinehart is expected to sign a one-year deal with the San Diego Chargers, per a San Diego Union-Tribune report - though that's not official yet, as Rinehart still needs to pass a physical.

Rinehart, 27, was long considered to be the Bills' back-up plan at left guard if the team lost Levitre on the open market. Instead, the Bills have now lost both players, with Rinehart joining former Bills offensive line coach Joe D'Alessandris on Mike McCoy's new-look Chargers team in San Diego.

Now, the Bills are without two of their top three guards from the past two seasons, and will be in the market for a new starting left guard (unless they're unreasonably overconfident in a player already on hand, such as Colin Brown, Keith Williams or Chris Scott) heading into the 2013 season. The best free agent guard remaining on the market is Brandon Moore, who worked with head coach Doug Marrone for four years while the two were with the New York Jets.
