As Mike Florio mentioned on PFT, the Bills used the post-June 1st designation on Fitz. I'm not completely sure I understand what happened here. Did the Bills save cap space this year by operating this way? If so, the question is, why would they want to do that? They have shown no interest in spending any money this year, so wouldn't it behoove them to take the largest cap hit in 2013 that they can? That way when Buddy wakes up next year, he'll have extra cap space?
To clarify, this is not me calling out the Bills for doing something stupid. I just don't think I understand the ramifications of the post-June 1st designation.
