2013 NFL free agents: Fred Davis visits Buffalo Bills

Matt Stamey-US PRESSWIRE

Davis has another visit (with the Jets) scheduled after he's done touring One Bills Drive.

Washington Redskins free agent tight end Fred Davis is finally making his scheduled visit with the Buffalo Bills, the team confirms.

Per the team's release, Davis recently disclosed during a radio appearance that he'd not yet received a contract offer from the Bills, as the team wanted to see how the sixth-year tight end was coming along following an Achilles tear last season. That makes the physical portion of Davis' visit - which we likely won't hear much about - a very interesting affair, indeed.

Davis, 27, was a second-round draft pick out of USC for the Redskins in 2008. In his first five years in the NFL (over 62 career games), Davis has caught 155 passes for 1,973 yards and 12 touchdowns. The 6'3", 247-pound Davis is an athletic tight end capable of lining up in the slot or even coming out of the backfield as an H-Back, and would give the Bills' offense some versatility as an inside receiver with size and athletic ability.

The Redskins, who have an established quarterback in Robert Griffin III, reportedly would like to bring Davis back. The other teams interested in Davis - the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets - have similar quarterbacking question marks as Buffalo. Davis has a visit scheduled with the Jets following his trip to Buffalo.
