As Brian previously noted in his piece regarding Xavier Rhodes: don't be surprised if Nix drafts another cornerback in the first round this year. My only issue is I think Brian picked the wrong player! The cornerback the Bills should and could very well be targeting is Desmond Trufant.
A little scouting report:
Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington
Stats: 6'0, 190 lbs, 4.38 40-yard dash, 16 reps on the bench
- Has great measurables and is a great athlete. He has pretty good height (same height as Gilmore), had one of the best 40 times at the combine and had more reps on the bench than any other defensive back.
- Was a freshman starter and played all four years (we know how much Buddy likes that)
- Was a defensive captain his senior season
- Played outside AND in the slot. Was asked to cover tight ends.
- Excels in man coverage
-Comes from a football family, both brothers play in the NFL
I think there's a lot to like about this guy and pretty much the only knock on him I can see is that he'd played for the PAC-12 and not the SEC.
What do you guys think?
