Hello fellow Rumblers <cough><cough> fidget (straighten nonexistent necktie).I have been a loyal Bills fan for over 25 yrs. and a regular visitor (almost daily) to this site.Like most of you out there I come here for the latest news, gossip, and shennanagens at OBD about our favorite team from the only people I trust.PEOPLE who love their BILLS and know what a blessing and curse that can be.The vast majority of us come here to laugh, cry, and sometimes shake our fists in silence at the screen reading the posts written by relatively few of us.I sit here quietly reading posts from the same cast of 25 to 30 characters without lifting a finger to the keyboard.TODAY that ends....
Two recent posts have finally forced my fingers to type. The post on the ninth about making an offer for Danario Alexander from the Bolts and today's unofficial cap breakdown post are the ones, and I'm sorry but I don' know how to put them on here as links.
First of all, I think we need D.A., and I know the risk of his knees and the fact that we would probably have to pay him around 2.5 mil a year to get him away from S.D. but I think I have a way to mitigate the salary risk even if he does go down. Before I give you the safety net lets talk about what we could gain in a perfect scenario.
We get a 24 year old 6'5" / 217lb. rec.who caught 37 balls for 650 yds. for 17.8 average and 7 T.D.s who is also a very good blocker by the way. Those numbers alone would make him a #2 in Buff.. These numbers came in the last 9 games he started last year.Prorate that to a year of good health and you get a mindnumbing 64 balls / 1140 yds./ 17.8 avg. and 12 T.D.s. I love me some Stevie, but he doesn't get that.Together they could be a force, and with our ground game fergedddaboutit.
Now,the safety net. Three words...CUT BRAD SMITH and his redunkulas 3.75 mil.(courtesy of cap breakdown post) that gets us 14 balls/ 152 yds./ 11yd. avg. and 2 T.D.s. We would actually save money(not that it's mine anyway), and get that big open when covered rec. that likes to block.
If the kid turns out to be brittle and we only got half a year out of him we still would get 500% more production for 70% of the money.Personally I don't think the kid may have a long career but I think for the next two to four years hes going to burn extremely bright and it's about time for us to catch some lightning in a bottle.WE'RE DUE...it's time to pay the Bills.
Well, enough long windedness, thank you for your time.I will fade back into the background again after leaving you with a poll.I really enjoy reading all(most) of the posts from you guys. C YA
