Notes from Ryan Nassib's appearance on Gruden's QB Camp

Here are some comments/quotes from the half hour special:

-Helped restore Syracuse football program with Coach Marrone, Nassib would frequently put the team on his back when the game was on the line.

-Gruden describes Nassib as athletic, smart, tough, and a finisher.

-Syracuse installed the "NASCAR" no-huddle package 10 days before the start of the 2012 season. A lot of concepts remained the same, although some reads/footwork would change. More quick 3-step drops.

-Nassib stressed the benefits of the no-huddle as it gets the defense off balance and can put them in some very vanilla looks.

-Consistently able to stand in the pocket amongst pressure and keep his eyes downfield.

-Able to move around in pocket, has the size and toughness to gain yards on the ground.

-Syracuse would essentially run a 2 minute drill for most of the game, makes end of game situations more comfortable

-Gruden 'jokes' that Nassib knows more about west coast offense than he does.

-Zone Read at Syracuse has 4 options, Gruden referred to it as "the best zone read in America."

-Gruden to Nassib, "You're a pretty smart kid aren't you?"

-Nassib can win one-on-one situations on the run, won't kill anyone with his feet but will drive a lot of people crazy with his running ability.

-Does a good but not great job with ball security, uses two hands to cover ball on the run a majority of the time.

-Nassib desperately needs to work on his sliding as Gruden claims, "You've got some of the worst sliding I've ever seen."

-Has a tremendous west coast offensive background with the ability to go through all of his progressions.

-Gruden touched on the rumors of Nassib to Buffalo to which Nassib replies, "...on paper it sounds like the best fit." For obvious reasons, Gruden compares the situation to Tannehill in Miami.

-Some random Gruden comments: "I don't know where you're going to go in the draft but I'd love to coach you. You're going to be a hell of a player."

"The way he threw the football was as well as anything I've seen in this draft."

"He is very accurate, has excellent touch."

"Has a beautiful spiral, and a consistent compact delivery."
