Welcome to the War Room! This is the headquarters for Bills fans to talk and plan for this weekend's 7-round fan-run mock draft, hosted by Turf Show Times and SB Nation.
The Mock Draft takes place this Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 2pm EST both days (with the trading block opening 2 hours earlier). It's gonna be a long haul, it's gonna be a blast, and it's gonna be a good way to left off some steam the week before the real deal.
As you may know, I'm the GM for Buffalo in this year's draft. I've been assembling a big board, which I'll put a link to when it gets a bit more finished. I've also been trying to negotiate for trades, but it isn't easy - seems like two thirds of the teams want to trade down!
I have had a few offers/potential deals for trades. I want your feedback! Are there any trades that you think I should go for? Here's what I have:
A verbal agreement with Tampa to trade the 8th overall pick and our 5th rounder for their 13th overall pick, their 3rd rounder, and their 4th rounder (their first one). This one is my preferred choice, but it's not confirmed until Tampa knows that the player they want is available at 8. Presumably, that player is Dee Milliner, because they missed out on trading for Darrelle Revis.
The other trades are off the table at this point, so it looks like Tampa is the main target outside of trades after the draft begins.
How to follow the draft
The draft is going to be run on both Turf Show Times and Twitter.
The thread is not available yet for Turf Show Times, but it will appear around 2pm when the draft starts. Every 300 or so comments, a new thread will be set up, so keep checking in during the day to see the latest developments.
If you're a Twitter user, the TST crew have put together a Twitter Tracker containing a list of all the GMs in the draft as well as several NFL analysts (Russ Lande, Peter King) who will be commenting on the picks as things go along. Be sure to check that out as well.
And of course, this War Room is where all the Bills fans can gather to discuss team-specific needs and picks over the course of the weekend, so stay close by to check that out.
Lastly, if you're wondering about how I've rated players, I'll share with you my (mostly) finished Big Board for the event. I've rated a little more than half of the players on it personally through watching hours of film. Here's a link to that (Excel file).
