I know I said I would not do any more mocks but I couldn't help myself. Actually I rarely get into potential trades because it seems so far fetched and impossible to predict. But this morning after reading the Walter football mock draft right after reading Ron's piece on what deal do you think Nix would take, it got me to thinking...
Actually the top 7 picks that Walter Football predict are pretty spot on, the logic is solid. He's got:
#1 Luke Joeckel going to KC
#2 Dion Jordan going to JAC
#3 Sharrif Floyd going to OAK
#4 Eric Fisher going to PHI
#5 Ezekiel Ansah going to DET
#6 Star Lotulelei going to CLE
#7 Lane Johnson going to ARI
Their logic is solid and I really could see this unfold. If that does indeed happen and Dee Milliner is still on the board, our chances of trading down would be great. Actually, I think Nix should call his buddy Mark Dominik (we know that he knows his number..) and tell him that they should wait before making the Revis deal. Tell him, look if Milliner is there at #8 we could trade with you guys for your #13, 2.11 and 5.14. This way you get your CB, much cheaper, much less risk and you get to stick it to the Jets!
#8 Dee Milliner goes to TB (via trade with Buffalo)
#9 Geno Smith goes to the Jets. The Jets are so dysfunctional, I can't see Idzik passing on what most are claiming is the top QB in this years draft.
#10 Chance Warmak goes to TEN
#11 Jarvis Jones goes to SD
#12 Jonathan Cooper goes to MIA
Here is where it gets fun, Nix picks up the phone and gets a conversation going with the RAMs and the Vikings. Both those teams would certainly be interested in moving up to grab the biggest playmaker in this year's draft. St-Louis could not take the chance because their second first rounder was after MIN and they had to replace Amendola. They absolutely need to provide their $50M QB some much-needed weapons. In exchange Nix plays hardball and he wants their 2.14 pick and in the end they agree but Nix has to send them his 4.8 to sweeten the pot!
#13 Tavon Austin goes to STL (Via trade with Buffalo)
#14 Sheldon Richardson goes to CAR
#15 Barkevious Mingo goes to NO
I think Nix is starting to enjoy his position this year... So he calls Jerry and says, Jerry I've been talking to Ozzie and Trent and they both seem quite interested in trading up for Vaccaro. Jerry, Just imagine what Claiborne & Vaccaro would mean in your division? Can you see what I'm saying Jerry? So Nix accepts Jerry's 3rd rounder (3.18) to swap 16 & 18.
#16 Kenny Vaccaro goes to DAL
#17 Alec Ogletree goes to PIT
#18 Ryan Nassib goes to BUF
#19 Tyler Eifert goes to NYG
#20 DJ Fluker goes to CHI
#21 Eric Reid goes to Cin
#22 Eddie Lacey goes to STL
#23 Sylvester Williams goes to MIN
#24 Datone Jones goes to IND
So far Buddy Nix has done a pretty good job of working the phones. He took a 1.8 pick and turned it into 1.18 but added (2.11, 2.14 & 3.18) not bad at all. He knows that MIN is interested in Teo but he also knows that they know that Teo could easily fall into the top of Rd2, the problem is that they are picking at 20 in Rd2 and Teo won't last. So Buddy makes the call and offers up our 2.11 along with 3.18 and our 5.10 to move back to the 25th overall pick.
#25 DeAndre Hopkins goes to BUF
#26 Xavier Rhodes goes to GB
#27 Cordarelle Patterson goes to HOU
#28 Tank Carradine goes to DEN
#29 Matt Elam goes to NE
#30 Desmond Trufant goes to ATL
#31 EJ Manuel goes to SF
#32 Keenan Allen goes to BAL
- - - - Round 2 - - - - -
With Pick 2.9 the Buffalo Bills select Zack Ertz
With Pick 2.14 the Buffalo Bills select Arthur Brown
- - - - Round 3 - - - - -
With Pick 3.9 the Buffalo Bills select Brian Schwenke
I'll admit that this was fun. Probably un-realistic but fun nonetheless!
