Mike Mayock 2013 NFL mock draft: Tavon Austin to Buffalo Bills

USA TODAY Sports

Mike Mayock grudgingly does one mock draft per year, and thinks Tavon Austin fits the Bills.

Mike Mayock of NFL Network puts out one mock draft per year, and his 2013 NFL mock draft has just hit the web. In it, he projects West Virginia wide receiver Tavon Austin to the Buffalo Bills with the No. 8 overall pick.

"The more I thought of Austin and the hole the Bills have at receiver - with nobody but Stevie Johnson - the more I said, 'They've got to generate some touches for an explosive playmaker,' and that's who Austin is," Mayock writes. "Forget 173 pounds. It doesn't matter."

In four years as a Mountaineer, the 5'8", 173-pound Austin - who played mostly wide receiver, but also lined up in the backfield as a runner quite a bit - recorded 397 total touches for 4,444 yards and 35 touchdowns. An electric return man, he also had five return touchdowns (four of them on kicks) in his college career. In Buffalo, he would pair with fourth-year running back C.J. Spiller to give the Bills one of the most electrifying pair of skill players in the NFL.

One other note on Mayock's mock: only one quarterback (Geno Smith) went off the board within the first 32 picks.
