A funny thing has happened in this years draft. According to the "draft experts" the Bills 1st pick EJ Manuel was foolish. The funny thing is they don't know if this is a good pick or not, none of us really do only time will tell. What is more, the only reason they've panned this pick is because it's not where they rated him and not in accord with their mock drafts.
I don't care what the "experts" think, I'm pleased so far with the direction of this team and the draft. I'm happy that of the picks of the QB litter the Bills chose first. The other QBs that were linked to Buffalo fell into the 2nd or later rounds. No one traded up into the end of the 1st round to pick one of these other QBs. They just dropped. Which makes me think that other teams also felt that EJ has the potential to be the best of the bunch.
That may not be saying much since overall this QB class has been rated as one of the worse since 2010 when Sam Bradford was the only QB any good(again they maybe wrong about how they've rated them this year). Nevertheless, the Bills have a guy with all of the tools, they just have to make sure he knows how to use them. I also like that they drafted a couple of WRs, a ILB and a couple of safteys. The Bills had very few WRs, I don't trust Shepard on the inside, and Byrd is a very good S, but I'm not sure about Searcy and there was very little behind him. So...
The funny thing is I'm optimistic about the future of the Bills. Something I haven't been for a long time and it's not that I'm not forcing myself into it for fear to the other alternative. I'm really excited!
Go Bills! (where you say, to the Superbowl of course)
