I have to say I actually have a fair amount of optimism so far with the rookies, or at least on the offensive side of the ball. Of course, this comes with the caveat that our defensive signings may be really bad, but it does seem like we are showing a lot of promise at the WR position and though coverage on Manuel has seemed lukewarm at best and Marrone was fairly even on him, he actually threw the ball quite well (better than Geno Smith's numbers and he of course got plenty of attention from ESPN for "throwing well").
Really, I am quite excited about what Robert Woods will do for this offense. Manuel has the natural ability that our previous attempts at QB haven't had (namely, the deep ball and movement) and it seems the WR's actually have the ability to separate and get open down the field to make that ability worth something. For the first time in a while I actually have some optimism about the direction of the offense.
Now, with that said...it is only a rookie minicamp, and I think everyone is excited about their teams at this point in the season. However, I am sure I'm not the only one that is actually looking forward to our offense taking the field for full mini camps and our first preseason game, right?
