Football is back my friends. The long awaited winter that is the NFL offseason is over and training camps have startedup and the warmth of footall is shining back into our collective lifes. So, with that being said what can we make of these new Bills
? 5 quick observations from a fan who lives in Washington DC.
1.) The Bills are young. I was at a Buffalo Wild Wings the other night (Wings are terrible if your not in western NY) and the table next to me was all skins fans and they got to talking about every team in the league. The one thing they said about Buffalo is they are young and I couldn't agree more. The Bills have a very young team from the coaching staff younger than years past, a rookie QB, two very young LBs in Alonso and Nigel taking the middle it appears. A young WR reciving Corp. This team feels like a young team and it is, if we're going to lose than let us lose while being young and learning.
2.) Stevie getting more play in the slot. While watching ESPN today they said Stevie will be in the slot more this season. Stats don't lie and Hodge and Edwards the "experts" of NFL Live liked the idea of using Stevie in the slot. With speed on the outside pushing the safety up to keep the Bills from removing the hat off the defense Stevie should have more thn enough room to operate.
3.) CJ Spiller is the one bills player everyoone is asking me about concerning fantasy football. Living in washington DC now I still get my Bills on and you better believe I wear my shirts and jerseys as much as I can, when I get to talking everyone who is talkingfantasy asks is Spiller worth a fantasy 1st roung pick or 2nd round pick. I love the fact that even if it is fantasy football atleast people are talking about a Bills playe.
4.) The secondary scares me. Outside of Gilmore, who in camp at this moment do you feel confident about? Clocks ticking, yep, no one. Gilmore as it hs been mentioned in the national media is the best CB on the Bills with some saying best in the AFC East. But with Byrd still holding out who else has proven anything there than an average at est type of play in the secondary? No one. I understand that pass defense is two sided and perhaps with a etter pass rush we will have better coverage and vice versa but until Byrd comes back and another corner steps up I am scared by the lack of talent and proven players in the secondary.
5.) EJ Manuel looks like a NFL QB. I know, I know, I know its only 4 days of his first training camp but doesn't he look the part? A ig QB who just looks t have a presence in the pocket, a good zip on the ball, a decent trigger for getting the ball out.
Those are my points, go BILLS!
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.
