We all know by now that Byrd has reported to be "open" to a trade. He wants to be the highest paid safety and the Bills aren't willing to pay the man. Byrd is one of the greatest safeties in the game today and is well deserving of a high paid long term deal but if the boys upstairs are not willing to provide such I think its time to go shopping.
When I heard Jairus was open to being traded I immediately knew it was over. Part of me was upset, however another side thought this could be a good opportunity for the Bills to upgrade another position of need, CB. If Jairus doesn't want to play in Buffalo, I don't want him either. The Bills D has proved to be just fine without Byrd at safety (mind you against preseason offenses) with A. Williams, Searcy, Duke, and Meeks rotating.
Pettine's defense calls for man to man coverage by its corners and aside from Gilmore, this is something the Bills lack. If Byrd is a top safety he should have similar trade value to a top corner.
