Buffalo Bills fantasy football guide.

With the NFL regular season fast approaching I know a lot of you will be starting fantasy football teams. Some people probably already have teams created (bad idea) so you won't get much help from this. For everyone who has yet to make one, this handy guide will help you pick what players from your favorite team you should target for fantasy purposes. Some of these will be no-brainers while some might just surprise you. I'll break it down and include IDP (Independent Defensive Players) for people who have leagues that don't use team defenses. Let's begin with the offense shall we!

Must Own: These are the Bills players you should absolutely target for your team. First, CJ Spiller. He's proven essentially matchup proof and his major handicap (Chan Gailey) is no longer coaching the team. Couple this with Doug Marrone's promise to run him until he throws up Spiller could see a spike in production this season. Crazy considering how beastly he was last season.

Another player to target in the middle rounds is Stevie Johnson. He'll make a solid WR2/ great WR3. He's had three straight 1000 yard seasons and is a source of consistency. The TD totals could be better but he'll be a decent source of points. Draft these two with confidence.

Can Own: Fred Jackson should be a valuable handcuff for Spiller should he get injured. Fredex could even be a spot start RB depending on the matchup. I wouldn't expect him to put up as many points as he did two seasons ago, so try to avoid making him your RB1 or 2. He'll be someone to keep an eye on though.

Robert Woods is another player to keep an eye on. I'm fully expecting him to start beside Stevie Johnson when the season starts. Feel free to use a late round flyer on him, especially if you do dynasty leagues. So stash him on your bench and keep an eye on him.

Scott Chandler, assuming he comes back from injury, should make for a decent TE2 or spot start. He won't blow you away with his yardage or TDs but based on owning him the last two seasons he's good for a multi-TD game about twice a season. Maybe you'll get lucky. Obviously there are better TE options out there but Chandler makes a case to be a late round flyer.

Sleeper Picks: I know I will probably get some flak for this but here goes: Kevin Kolb. Injury history not-withstanding, Kolb could be useful for spot starts or even as a back-up QB. Marrone offenses typically generate a lot of points and before scoffing at the idea even Ryan Fitzpatrick was a useful fantasy starter for Buffalo.

Dustin Hopkins/Rian Lindell. Whoever wins the Bills kicking job should be useful for fantasy purposes as a kicker. Not really much to talk about since a fantasy kicker isn't likely to win you a fantasy championship.

Buffalo Defense/Special teams could be viable as a spot start against certain opponents. The hope is that Pettine turns the Bills defense into a top-notch unit. I'm not going to buy the hype this early and neither should you. But keep them on your radar just in case.

Now, there are some DEEP sleeper options. EJ Manuel could be someone to keep an eye on or even a late round pick in dynasty leagues. Da'rick Rodgers also merits at least some mention based on his huge potential. Now I'll break down what defensive players to target for all you IDP players out there.

Mario Williams is obviously the main target on the Bills defense. He led the Bills in sacks last season and odds are he will do it again.

Jairus Byrd, assuming he doesn't hold out too far into the season, also deserves a spot on your team. I don't need to explain why.

Kyle Williams is another player you can draft with confidence. He's an extremely solid producer and I expect that to continue.

Stephon Gilmore also merits a roster spot. He's shown great potential in his rookie season and he should just keep getting better.

If your IDP league also takes kickoff return points then Leodis McKelvin is a must grab for your team.

Potential sleeper picks for your defense are Marcel Dareus, Kiko Alonso, and Nigel Bradham. Definitely keep an eye on these three players. And that's it. Hopefully my list will help you out and even lead you to a fantasy title. If you think I missed anyone sounds off in the comment section.
