So after thinking about the game and reading the analysis, the question is what players need to change? We are three games into the season, so there's enough of a body of work to figure out who shouldn't be getting reps. What two players would you demote, and who would you want to step up?
* T.J. Graham - Played more than half the offensive snaps, but only 9 targets, and 2 receptions for 13 yards. He runs mediocre routes, and shows bad body control when he was targeted. And he spouted off to the media about the "separation" he created and that he was "running by the guy all day", passive aggressively throwing EJ under the bus. The counterargument: he's the only legitimate speed threat who can stretch the field vertically.
* Colin Brown - a human turnstyle who is a liability in run blocking and pass protection i.e. the two primary skills of an offensive lineman. The counterargument: there's nobody better or potentially better to replace him.
* Justin Rogers - shows effort and competitiveness, but not up to being a starting CB in the NFL. The counterargument: see Colin Brown and multiply by 5.
* Jerry Hughes - played 68% of snaps in Game 1, but only 45-50% in Games 2 and 3. Has 6 tackles and a half sack to show for it. Is a liability in run defense, as he's undisciplined in his responsibilities, and is a liability in coverage as he's slow to recognize and react to his assignment. His success rushing the passer in pre-season hasn't translated to production in the regular season. The counterargument: he demonstrated enough pass rushing potential in pre-season to deserve another week.
My choices -
Replace TJ with Easley. Easley has the speed that Hogan does not.
Replace Hughes with Westerman. While he doesn't have a track record to speak of, he looks like the next man up given the rep count.
What do you think Rumblers? Who would you replace in the lineup, who would you replace him with, and why?
