A few random thoughts on the game

  • When Kiko picked up the Brady fumble, he put his head down and bulled forward as if there was a pile to drive through. What he didn’t realize was that no one knew where the ball was yet and he had only one man to beat plus a blocker in front of him.
  • I didn’t see the creative use of RB’s we came to expect from Chan, most notably splitting CJ and Fred out wide (think Fred’s catch and run down to the 1 in the game we beat them). I didn’t get to watch the whole game, so I am genuinely curious, did this ever happen?
  • The secondary looked good but I won’t believe in this pass defense until they play a team not as obviously out of sync as Brady was with his receivers.
  • The drive that killed the Bills just as much as the one ended by Stevie’s drop was the one that started from the Pats’ 42 and went backwards, a FG there would have been huge.
  • EJ looked poised. Didn’t see much in the way of the harder sideline throws (outs and such) from him, besides deep throws, is this a case of the coaching staff protecting him by calling safer plays for now?
  • Re: the hurry up, a few times I could see the Pats D line was clearly gassed and generated little pass rush. But, what you’d like to see as a result of a game full of hurry up—the ability to run for first downs at the end—didn’t happen. Hope it does in the future.
  • Mario…we could have really used a timely sack or pressure or two my friend...
