Just to start some conversations, what's your make believe 53 man roster for the Bills in 2014, and how you envision that roster happening?
Clearly, if you don't want to take this thought experiment seriously, you could do something like "Peyton Manning wins SB, decides to retire. Then recants and is looking for a new team and decides on Buffalo as QB #1 Hurray!".
Or, we could consider things that might actually happen, which would make this a lot more interesting.
Here's my make believe 2014 Bills Roster:
Jeff Tuel (ideally, I would love to see Michael Vick come in knowing he's the back up and mentor to EJ, but I don't see him doing that, the guy's a competitor and still wants to play and probably wants starter money).
Tyler Gaffney (Drafted in Round 5) Wingo back to practice squad, or cut) HCDM saw LaGarrette Blounte dominate us both as a RB and on ST. A late round flyer on a big back that could turn into that seems like a good idea. Stanford product, grinded out 157 yards against Oregon on 45 carries. Forty. Five. He could a workhorse to be sure.
Frank Summers (FB)
Brandon Coleman (Drafted in Round 3) Rutgers, 6'5" 220 pounds, 4.6-ish speed (not the fastest), had a solid 2012 season. Whaley has said "Big Wins." Graham probably gets cut late in camp.
Scott Chandler (resigned)
Jace Amaro (Drafted in Round 1 after trading with the Rams, down to the 13th spot, in exchange we would get roughly an additional 3rd round pick, I think the Rams are going to trade their #2 first round pick again with a 4-12 team, playing them all off each other for a QB or Clowney, Gragg to the practice squad) 6'5" lots of TDs. Whaley wants to build around EJ, a TE who's a solid red zone threat and can also contribute with blocking is exactly what he's looking for.
Tony Moeaki (if healthy?)
Jon Asamoah (Free Agent pick up) Hopefully obvious upgrade over Legursky
Taylor Lewan (Drafted in Round 2) Good tackle, should be able to plug him into the RT spot and put Pears on the Bench.
Alex Carrington (resigned)
Perry Riley (Free Agent pick up) ILB, Hopefully obvious upgrade over Moats, had a great season for the Redskins who aren't in the best cap position.
Yawin Smallwood (Drafted in round 3 with our additional 3rd round pick) Seems like a solid player. Could spend some time on the PS though to give Bradham another year.
Jordan Senn (Free Agent pick up). ST player
Jairus Byrd (resigned)
Ty Zimmerman (Drafted round 6) Looks like he could contribute to ST.
Walter Thurmond (Free Agent pick up), upgraded depth
Chris Davis (Drafted Round 4) Looks like he could contribute to ST, ya konw, just maybe.
Also, we probably draft a Punter in the 7th round to compete with Moorman with Moorman winning out.
So... what's your make-believe list of 53 for the 2014 roster?
