We all did not want to see Mike Pettine become HC of the Browns. I think we could all agree we would rather have seen him stay here, but as I listen to the news and stories leaking out, I see what may be a silver lining here.
Listining to Joe Buscaglia on WGR550 right now, he is talking about when he got Pettine on the side, he talked about how Marrone helped him both with football things, and non football things such as getting through the interview process to become a HC that Marrone went through a year before, including the interview Marrone had with the Browns.
That made me stop to think, could that be a benefit for us in the future in hiring coaches? One of our coaches in 1 year gets one of 32 highly sought after NFL HC jobs after only 1 year with Marrone. Could that possibly lead to the Bills getting up and coming positional coaches who might be innovative as an OC or DC in the future? I don't know. But I know very few OC or DC's who have gotten a HC gig in the NFL like this after only 1 year in a new job. It actually might work for us, for gaining new up and coming coaching talent in the future for coaching prospects who aspire to be NFL HC's in the future.
Something to think about.
