It might be rabble, but, hopefully it isn't babble aka Morning Joe was right

Have to comment on a few posts and add my 5 cents...

1. I know that more then 99% of the people on here are disappointed that we lost last week to Oakland, but, it is better this way. Why? Because the team was fools gold. They were all smoke and mirrors and no real substance.

Don't get me wrong, the Defense is very good, borderline great. But, special teams and the offense were not what they appeared. IMO a coach is a person who can take a player and turn him into something that he wasn't, i.e. a good special teams player or a good offensive player. Special teams is difficult. But, a good coach can get a young player and turn him into a good special teams guy in addition to his own profession. Not our special teams' coach. He needed to poach other teams' guys in order to make his own the best they can be. Let me ask this question: How many guys were kept b/c of their special teams' ability but, offered little else in regards to the team? Perhaps if they had kept a guy that they could have had better depth at certain spots? To me, that isn't coaching, it's buying special teams, not coaching them.

2. The failure of Doug Marrone and his OC were epic this year. IF they had made the playoffs then it would have been very unlikely that he would have made the necessary changes (after all, we did make the playoffs, right?) in order to take this team to the next level. I have read that it is not uncommon that a coach would hire a buddy, and guys like Peyton and Billichick do it all the time. Fine, but, coaches shouldn't be buddies in the sense that they are full of going to each others' family functions. Sometimes, a coach needs to be yelled at. Sometimes, they do a bad job, and friendships get in the way of that. You can bet that BB has no issues getting to the face of a coach that he feels isn't doing his job. Oh, and when was the last time that a coach was fired from his staff? He might hire his buddies, but, they know how to do their job. Our guy doesn't.

3. If you need an elite QB to make your offense run then you don't have a good offense. Good coaches make due with what they have. Good coaches find a way to put their players in a position to win. How in the world does Dalton end up with more wins over the last 3 years then Drew Brees? Better team wins. This past week, Dalton's team beat Manning's team. Their offense looked good in victory. Yet, is this year's Peyton more skilled then Dalton? Some would say yes. How in the world does Brees' Saints not get to 7 wins in THAT division?

Here is the truth: there is a giant divide between franchise QB and an elite QB. Dalton is a franchise QB, as it Cam, Kaepernick etc, none are elite. As a matter of fact, there are very very few elite QBs and even fewer who need just a bit of help. Actually, only Brady needs little help. Every other QB needs a ton of help. So, having a QB is only part of the problem. Cutler, Brees, and others are home, again for the playoffs. Isn't this 2 out of 3 years for the Saints? Flacco lost to a third string QB in Houston. Isn't the point of having an elite QB to give them the edge? So, how does Houston win? Because the better team can overcome the better QB. Seattle won the SB with the lesser QB. Is Wilson elite? I have no clue b/c he has to do so little. I have no doubt that if Orton is in charge of that team, they make the playoffs.

There is a ton of film on Orton. Yet, when he came in, he put up close to 300 yards in 3 of his first 4 starts, nearing or passing that number against Detroit and NE. If he's so bad, how does he do that? It's because the offense is so inept. That is coaching.

A play can be a bad play. If that is the case, then nothing the players do will help that. If an OL is asked to make a block that he only gets on 20% of the time in practice, and that play with that blocking scheme is called, and the guy fails to make the block, who's fault is it? Again, IMO, it's the coach's fault, the play is bad. If a team runs 4 plays from a specific formation, then the D can shut that down That's bad coaching.

Eric Wood talked about a third and 10 play where a 3 yard pass when to a crossing Woods and he was quickly tackled at that spot, and they punted. Wood admitted that they copied that play from KC b/c they were running that play. Really? You copy a play that everyone else is running. Isn't that the very definition of a day late and a dollar short? And why copy what a pass poor to average club like KC? Shouldn't you be lifting plays from Green Bay, NE etc?

Shouldn't you copy GB's playbook entirely? Look at how they put their guys in a position to succeed by lining them in the backfield, or running gadget plays. So, they aren't okay for here, but, they are okay for GB to do them, Okey dokey.

Coaching is tough, it's downright impossible when the coaches out-think themselves and make it so much harder then it has to be. Who was the genius who thought it was a good idea to have a game plan where Sammy would be a decoy because the D would of course never figure out that the ball never went there, so everyone else would be wide open. Like I said, this team is flawed by the coaches. And I am hoping they do the right thing and fire Marrone and Hackett and that awful OL coach.

This is a talented club, and all I want for Christmas is a coach who will get this team playing up to their level, for the first time in forever.

Merry Christmas Fellow Rumblers.
