A player Buffalo should trade for

This player is currently 3rd on his teams depth chart.

This player has a career 4.7 YPC and 9 yards per catch.

This player stands 5'8 205 pounds ran a 4,4 forty at the combine.

This player was a 2nd round pick.

This player is LaMichael James.

draft profile Built low to the ground. Outstanding production. Field-fast, consistently rips off big runs and shows he can hit the home run. Natural running skills — exceptional vision and instincts to pick and slide. Feels the cutback. Excellent lateral agility (verified by 4.12-second short shuttle and 6.88-second 3-cone times) and has short-area burst to squirt through creases and dart upfield. Elusive and creative — can stop and start suddenly and string moves together. Very good balance and surprising run strength and body lean for his size. Keeps his legs churning and spins off contact.

Why it makes sense for Buffalo

Lamichael James and his skill set fits perfectly with Buffalos West Coast Coryell offense. James can catch out of the backfield he can run from the shotgun formation and play in the slot. LaMichael is unhappy about his lack of carries so far 39 attempts in 2 years. Tashard had 35 in 12 games at 3.5 ypc last year. LaMichael would be the 3rd back to our already stacked run offense, rotating in with Spiller and Jackson. James is an excellent receiving and home run threat out of the backfield. With EJ still getting a handle on the NFL Buffalo can help ease him in the transition with a stronger run game.

Why it makes sense for San Fran

San Fran simply doesn't have a need for him,San Fran doesn't throw much to their backs. LaMichael is the second highest paid running back on the team. Its an awful lot to pay for a 3rd string back in limited use and kick returner. San Fran drafted Marcus Lattimore last year in the 4th round possibly being groomed as Gores replacement, kicking James farther down the depth chart. San Fran projected to be at a 126m Cap number. With Phil Dawson, Anquan Boldin, Tarell Brown, and Donte Whitner headed to Free Agency, San Fran could you the extra Cap space ( 500k ) provided by James being traded to Buffalo.

How it could happen

There are a few ways i could see this happening

A straight pick for player type deal

Buffalo sends a 2014 6th rounder to San Fran for LaMichael James some will say that isn't enough i think its fair for a player with limited carries and production. The Jets did trade for Chris Ivory last year with only a 4th, and he had considerably more production than James.

A player for player swap

Now considering i don't follow the Niners too much i had to refer to the Rumblings sister site Niners Nation for help.Fishing through the Fan Posts I concluded their top 3 needs are Corner Wide Receiver and Safety

A few players that stand out in the we could trade them department are

Corner

Ron Brooks with Robey finding his stride as the Nickel corner Brooks is an expendable piece on defense

Safety

none

Wide Receiver

none

Bills trade Ron Brooks for LaMichael James

A pick and player swap

Buffalo could swap picks

Buffalo swaps 5th rounders with San Fran for LaMichael James

San Fran could be interested in moving up in the draft to target maybe a Safety or Receiver and depending on how far Buffalo wants to pull back and what round James could be packaged in said deal

Buffalo trades pick 73 to San Fran for pick 77 and LaMichael James

Lamichael James and his skill set fits perfectly with Buffalos West Coast Coryell offense he can catch out of the backfield he can run from the shotgun play in the slot

So Rumblers, does Lamichael James make sense?

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.
