I am posting today because I never really understood the anger, disappointment, or just the negative attitude in general towards our speed demon TJ Graham. Let me defend the man, by starting off with the fact that we never really had a consistent quarterback. The guy can only run the route and catch the ball, he can’t throw it to himself. Think of it this way, Tj has had 4 different quarterbacks throw to him, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Thad Lewis, Jeff Tuel, and Ej Manuel. Let that sink for a moment… I don’t think I have to remind you that none of these guys, besides Ej, are even at least knocking on the door of being "good" quarterbacks. As for Ej Manuel specifically, I just think getting hurt back to back handcuffed his learning process, but I do believe Ej has the potential.
Back to Tj, yes he made a crucial mistake by fumbling the ball in the Kansas City game and he may have dropped the ball on a curl route once or twice this season, but the guy can play. You’re not in the NFL just by luck and prayer, he has the skills. The guy has been in a somewhat of unfortunate situation these past few years where he has been held from his full potential because of the unstable quarterback position. It also doesn’t help that you are in a new offensive system, with a new coaching, 3 different quarterbacks, and a scheme/philosophy that is based on running the ball down your throat.
So my question is: Is the disappointment or attitude towards Tj Graham truly warranted?
