If Doug Whaley and the Buffalo Bills are once again unable to come to an agreement with Jairus Byrd within the following month we now have an attractive back up plan to consider instead of the $8.3 mil franchise tag or sacrificing the 9th overall pick on a safety prospect such as Haha Clinton-Dix or Calvin Pryor. With the announcement of Louis Delmas release the Bills now have the option to pursue the best member of Jim Schwartz's secondary back in Detroit. I am a big fan of Jairus Byrd and would not be mad at all if the Bills gave him $8mil/yr but if that isnt enough for him then Louis Delmas could be had for around $4.5 mil/yr and he is just 26 years old. If you've watched the Lions play over the last few years they were at their best when Delmas was flying around the field making plays and I'm very confident he could step into the situation in Buffalo and play very well. The only concern would be nagging injuries that he seems to always be dealing with but, his youthful age and the incredible rehabilitation advancements made for degenerative knees over the past 5 years give me confidence that the Bills could get some good snaps out of this guy. If nothing else this news has provided the Bills with a little bit more negotiating leverage with Byrd. What do you guys think? Would you be comfortable letting Byrd walk if you knew we had signed Louis Delmas to replace him?
