Hey everyone haven't been active here as much in the last season. Hope everyone is doing great.
The offensive game plan was putrid and yes not just play calling but execution. As Marv Levy has always said, if that didn't work we should of done the other thing. Clearly we had issues with the qb it's planned and ej had the worst luck. That said him sitting out and still getting his feet wet is probably the best thing for him in the future. Nothing beats live bullets.
Coaches and even us as professionals or even burger flippers have certain processes and systems we do things. Seems as if the coaching staff was too ignorant to look at old film, look at what Chan Gailey did with street free agents and low draft picks and journey men, also how he got Spiller into space. I kept scratching my head, why isn't CJ or Fred motioning to receiver, they've proven to be some of the best catching backs in the league years prior. They stuck to running the ball between the tackles, I'm all for developing Cj between the tackles but the offensive line coaching combined with Cj going back to old habits stunted them immensely. It took about six weeks before we saw one screen pass attempt, correct me if I'm wrong. Also halfway through the season to see a qb sneak, Marrone admitted they never went over it in practice. Minus the two drafted receivers qb and left guard and fullback you essentially have the same core guys on offense, why not review what's worked in the past and execute it? Pop on some old film, you aren't always smarter than everyone else.
The Defense was awesome, finally what we expected and credit to the scouting department for personnel upgrades.
Will Jim Shwartz carry the same arrogance as say Hackett and Marone or will he look at where these guys were shining the best and Taylor his system to the players.
A good coach adjusts his system to the player strengths.
One of my favorite quotes lately, dedicated to the coaching staff ...
"A fool learns from his own mistakes, A wise man learns from the mistakes of others. "
