Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun reports that the Buffalo Bills were one of several NFL teams to express interest in Baltimore Ravens free agent tight end Ed Dickson.
The Bills re-signed Scott Chandler to a two-year contract extension last week, and Wilson's report implies that the Bills are no longer interested now that Chandler is back in the fold (though it does not explicitly say that the Bills are out of the running).
Buffalo pursued two tight ends last spring with similar athletic traits to Dickson: Fred Davis, who ultimately re-signed with Washington, and Delanie Walker, who signed a lucrative deal in Tennessee. The Bills also spent a seventh-round draft pick on Chris Gragg, who is another athletic receiving threat at the position.
Dickson, 26, was a 2010 third-round draft pick out of Oregon that played a small role in Baltimore's offense in each of his first four pro seasons. He caught 25 passes for 273 yards and one touchdown in 2013.
Chandler's presence on the team doesn't necessarily mean that the Bills are out of the running for Dickson, but it likely lessens their interest. GM Doug Whaley has repeatedly sounded confident about his current tight end depth chart this offseason.
