Well I doubt he will be on the Bills roster. Lets face it this contract has one year rental written all over it. Spikes is in full press rebuild his image mode. He is saying and doing all the right things in an attempt to get a big contract next year. Meanwhile the Bills need the run stuffing production and hard hitting that he can bring to this defense but don't want a marriage to a guy that has been a problem in the past on and off the field. It is a win win for both sides.
Personally I love the way he plays hard and hits hard, and I think he is one of those guys that you hate when he is on the other team but love to see when he is on your team. In the end Mr. Spikes has a reputation and I think he has earned it. I hope he controls himself a little during the short time he is a Bill, as I do not like dirty play. Then when he is offered a big contract next year he will be on his way probably to the Bengals or Raiders.
With this in mind I really think ILB will be a higher priority in the draft this year than most fans think. I don't think they will target one in the first three rounds but I do think they will draft a Spikes replacement in the 4th -5th rounds. Someone that they can teach up and let him learn from one of the best in the league this year and let him step into the starter roll next year.
What do you think?
