Top draft prospect and possible Bills selection Offensive Tackle Taylor Lewan faces assault charge. Allegedly, he assaulted two Ohio State fans after the Ohio State/Michigan game (if they are like the Ohio State fans I know, I understand) and has been charged with one count of aggravated assault and two counts of assault or assault and battery. If found guilty, he could face up to 93 days in jail or a fine of up to $500 and it's a possibility the case may not go to trial until after the draft. Unfortunately, college players, especially football players, facing some type of charge during their college life is not unheard of and in many cases it has hurt their draft stock with some teams while others have taken the player off their boards.
So here are the questions I pose to all of you. If you were a GM and a top prospect was charged with a crime (whether ongoing or in their past) how much would it affect your draft board? What crimes would not affect their draft position, which would maybe drop them a round or two and which would make them untouchable?
Have at it!
