I feel like Buffalo is in a good position again this year for a small trade back (which worked out well for them last year :) ). The Bills can go any number of ways with this pick and get an immediate upgrade/starter from it. There are plenty of areas where the Bills could use an upgrade but there are (IMO) no GLARING holes thanks to an aggressive offseason. Here are the first 18 picks.. 1 Houston 2 St. Louis from Washington 3 Jacksonville 4 Cleveland 5 Oakland 6 Atlanta 7 Tampa Bay 8 Minnesota 9 Buffalo 10 Detroit 11 Tennessee 12 New York Giants 13 St. Louis 14 Chicago 15 Pittsburgh 16 Dallas 17 Baltimore 18 New York Jets There really isnt a bad situation Buffalo could fall into in terms of prospects available at the #9 spot. IF there is a run on QBs, a player (or 2) like Sammy Watkins, Kahlil Mack, Robinson/Mathews will be avaialble and Buffalo would be hard pressed to not make that selection (and who would blame them...). If the QBs dont come off the board early, people will be looking to jump up to get one thats starting to fall. Both of these situations give the Bills plenty of options. I personally feel the wild card in all this is Ebron. Teams are salivating over Ebron with several outlets stating the Giants (12), Steelers (15) and Jets (18) are really wanting this guy. Buffalo is in a prime position like last year. The Steelers know they will have to jump the Giants to guarantee they get him, likewise, the Giants may want to guarentee they get their guy and move up a few spots as well. The Rams proved last year teams are willing to make that short jump in the 1st round to secure a guy the covet. This would allow buffalo to drop back a few spots (mid teens) and pick up an extra 2nd round pick (possible giving up a mid round pick in return) and still draft an immediate started. Teams know Buffalo is willing to trade back if they feel they can get an extra (high) pick and still grab a day 1 starter in the first. A trade up for Ebron would also guarantee they wouldnt have to face him on the Jets roster for the next 10yrs. *Ill say this as a qualifier.. my Fiance is a HUGE UNC fan and we go to all the games. Ebron is an absolute stud and will be a game changer at the NFL level. I do have questions about his sense of entitlement from stories and rumors from the Chapel Hill area however, i feel this is pretty prevelant with most highly touted athletes (see J. Clowney).* While id be happy with any of the picks of Mack, Robinson/Mathews, Watkins, Ebron; I personally feel there is far more value in trading back in this deep of a class. Most teams will think the same, but again... Ebron is the wild card that teams will need to move up to get.
