I'm Done Guessing What the Bills Are Going to Do...

So I can break this post down into 3 easy to digest sections:

1. What I see

2. What I think

3. Why I have no idea what we're actually going to wind up with.

So for starters, with the pre-draft process, here's what I'm seeing. We have brought in a lot of RB's, CB's, WR's and OT's. We have 3 TE's we're looking at as well, but surprisingly we aren't doing much with DE's, LB's or Safeties. We seem to have a lot of 1st round talent coming in, but only 3 of the visits seem like a possibility at 9 (Matthews, Ebron, and a long shot at Evans.) Everything else that's a first round possibility would be someone that we have no shot at falling to us, such as Watkins or Mack (who isn't reported as a visitor, but I assume since he doesn't have to count as one of our 30 that he could be in play,) or we have talent that would fall to the later first round/early second, suck as Martin, Shazier, Roby, Beckham, Latimer, Hyde, and so on. A few selections I see on a lot of of people giving us in thier Mocks, such as Lewan, Barr, Mosely and Dix, have yet to come to OBD, and we are only allowed 4 more visitors.

What I think this means is the Bills FO has set a low priority at actually making a pick at 9. They probably wouldn't land Evans at 9, Matthews is a possibility but they can make up for a RT later in the draft anyway, and Ebron is a slight reach at that position. One option of course is trading back. They did it last year, and pulled off a great draft from it. With a draft class this talented, there's no reason not to get as many picks as possible in the first 3 rounds. The other options are that they trade up and get one of the 5-6 top shelf players that could be a huge difference maker right away. We have already been rumored to be doing this, and the visit from Watkins today shows it's at least a possibility. Some have claimed the rumored trade up is a smokescreen, but I don't quite understand what the benefit would be to fake a potential trade up. The jig is pretty much up after the pick passes and you didn't move on it. Maybe I'm missing the benefit here, but the only thing I can see it helping is to make a different team trade up farther than the team you are rumored to trade picks with to get said player. (Confused? Me too.)

So with what we have here, I'm no longer trying to make a guess at what we're going to end up with. Maybe Matthews lands to us at 9 and we just grab him. Maybe we trade 2 firsts and Stevie to St Louis and grab Watkins. Maybe Mack falls to 5 and we can get a cheap trade up from Oakland. Maybe we make some nice trade back moves and nab Mosely, Ealy, Hyde, and the best OT available (ignoring that OBD has not had Mosely OR Ealy in the building.) Maybe, Maybe, Maybe, Maybe....I'm done until May 8th!

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.
