Tom Szczerbowski

New York State has hired a law firm to help craft the next wave of business dealings with the Buffalo Bills to keep them in Western New York. That plus a lot of draft talk.

Lawyer hired to keep Bills here is one of those who helped craft lease deal - City & Region - The Buffalo News

"He was one of the legal architects who helped craft the deal to keep the Buffalo Bills in Western New York. Now, with the death of Ralph Wilson Jr. and the team at some point heading to new ownership, Manhattan lawyer Irwin Raij finds himself being called on again to help find an even longer term solution to keeping the team in the area. The Cuomo administration recently hired him and his firm, Foley & Lardner, to represent the state in high-stake talks about the Bills."

"Since day one the Cuomo administration has been aggressive when it comes to keeping the Bills in Western New York. Foley & Lardner has a proven track record in sports stadium and ownership issues and played a key role in negotiating the ironclad seven-year agreement that kept the team in Buffalo.  They will continue to assist in our efforts – including our exploration of a possible new stadium – to convince any potential future owners to keep the team here in New York."
