I'm a Bills fan. I'm all-for whatever makes the team better and gives them a chance to win but this post isn't really about that.
For the moment I can't shake the feeling that it's a little less fun to be a Bills fan today than it was yesterday. The team may not have gotten to the playoffs, but it's—well, I don't want to say easier—but less miserable to root for players that you identify with and like, genuinely. Not every team has those guys.
I was a Fitzpatrick supporter, not because I thought he was the greatest QB available–he wasn't. But it was fun to pull for him and he sort of epitomized the plucky identity of the Bills organization. He fit. It's the same with Stevie except that he produced! Not only did I like Johnson's personality, he was actually one of the few productive offensive weapons that also epitomized what it was to be a Buffalo Bill over recent years.
So, I'm a little heartsick to see him go. I'm sure many of us feel the same way.
Thanks Stevie, for bringing your brand of swag to the Bills. Thanks for being a leader on this team. I hope you have a successful second career in SF. As a long-time Bills fan, I will always consider you a Buffalo Bill and I will continue to be a fan of yours.
